The world is so big yet so small
When I meditate, I think about the big blue sky over my head, the vast openness beyond the dark clouds. When I feel hurt and rejected, I think about all the people out there whom I've never met and could still connect with. When I look at a map of the world and wonder where I want to visit, it's hard to choose because there's so many places to go. There's so many sights to see, people to meet, activities to do, and foods to eat.
The world is so big.
Yet it feels so small.
Every morning, at about the same time,
I get out of the same bed.
Do a few of the same exercises.
Wear the same clothes.
Drive the same car on the same roads.
Walk into the same office.
Eat about the same foods.
See the same people.
Do the same work.
So much of every day, every week, every month, and every year is the same as the last.
You can change it up, but the new becomes the same.
Repeat and repeat and repeat.
Then one day you die.
So you have to learn to enjoy the same.
