Introduction​

Hi, I'm Theodore Chu. I usually go by Theodore, but I also go by Theo.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was born and raised in the United States.

I'm a philosopher, mathematician, and technologist. I work as a professional software engineer. My current full-time role is Software Engineer at Roblox (see /docs). I'm most interested in web development and information security, and I’m passionate about creating tools, services, and content for creators. My goal is to help creators of any background achieve their creative visions and reach their audiences. 😄👍🏼🎉🚀

Goals​

My goal in life is to help people learn, think, and feel. I do that by writing documentation and creative works, leading thoughtful discussions, and creating valuable products.

My goal as an individual in human society is to do my part to ensure that our technology, government policies, and institutional practices respect, protect, and promote our rights, freedoms, and liberties.

Experience​

I've been working as a Software Engineer at Roblox since April 2023. I joined Roblox in May 2021 as a Technical Writer and transitioned to Software Engineer within the company. At Roblox, I build products, resources, and knowledge to help creators of all skill levels achieve their creative visions.

From December 2019 to May 2021, I worked at Standard Notes, a free, open-source, and end-to-end encrypted notes app available on Web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Linux.

Education​

In May 2021, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Philosophy (double major) with magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. I took multiple courses in natural science, anthropology, and music. In my extracurricular studies, I enjoy humanities and social studies of all kinds.

I try to read a book per week. I've listed some of the books I've read on my books page.

Hobbies​

I like to meditate, lift weights, swim, bike, run, read, write, and promote freedom and democracy. I practice martial arts. I occasionally like to play cello, video games, board games, and tennis.
