Who will you be?
What will you do?
The meaning of Unvex
Unvex is a word I’ve held onto for years. It means more to me than just a domain name—it’s a guiding principle.
To unvex is to reverse vexation: to soothe, enlighten, inform, calm, console, and clarify. It's the opposite of confusion, noise, or frustration. In short: to unvex is to help people learn, think, and feel—more clearly and deeply.
The root word: vex
Vex is a short, sharp, versatile word. According to Merriam-Webster, it means:
- To bring trouble, distress, or agitation
- To puzzle or baffle
- To irritate or provoke
Synonyms include annoy, bother, torment, perplex, and harass. One who is vexed experiences frustration, confusion, or even suffering.
The prefix: un-
In English, un- reverses a verb’s action:
- Unfold (to undo a fold)
- Undo (to reverse an action)
- Unvex (to remove vexation)
So to unvex is to do the opposite of vex:
To clarify, to comfort, to help.
That's what I want this website to do.
That's what I want Unvex to stand for.
